  • Retail Manager

    Whistle & Pop (Kurow, Waitaki Valley)
    Full-time | 4-5 days per week | Some weekend availability required

    Whistle & Pop is a growing independent New Zealand jewellery and lifestyle brand inspired by rural living.
    We’re looking for a warm, organised and capable Retail Manager to care for our Kurow flagship store, lead our small retail team and deliver the thoughtful, personal service our customers know us for.
    This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in the shop as if it were their own. You’ll report directly to Bex Hayman, Owner and Creative Director, and take responsibility for keeping the store, the team and the day-to-day details running smoothly.


    What You'll Do
    • Run the Kurow store day to day and create a warm, welcoming experience for every customer.
    • Keep the store and displays organised, beautifully presented and ready for seasonal campaigns and product launches.
    • Use Shopify and Shopify POS to process sales, support accurate stock records and help with online order picking, packing and dispatch.
    • Monitor stock, support replenishment and stocktakes, and provide Bex with regular updates on sales, stock needs, customer feedback and any issues that need attention.
    • Organise and support other retail staff, coordinate rosters and coverage, delegate tasks clearly and help new or casual team members settle in.
    • Help organise the stock, displays, staffing and store-based logistics for trade shows, events and seasonal pop- ups.


    What We're Looking For
    Previous store-management experience is welcome, but it isn't essential. We're equally interested in a strong retail candidate who is ready to step up, take ownership and grow with the business.
    • Retail or customer-service experience and confidence working directly with customers.
    • A friendly, reliable and highly organised approach, with the ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and follow things through.
    • Confidence with digital systems; Shopify or Shopify POS experience would be highly regarded.
    • Confidence guiding and supporting other staff, with clear communication and a practical, positive approach.
    • An eye for presentation, merchandising and detail.
    • Experience in jewellery, fashion, beauty, homewares or another lifestyle brand is helpful but not essential.
    • Social media experience is a bonus.
    • Availability to work some weekends.

    The Details
    • Location: Kurow, Waitaki Valley
    • Employment: Full-time, 4-5 days per week
    • Salary: $50,000-$60,000 annually
    • Reports to: Bex Hayman, Owner and Creative Director
    • Preferred start: As soon as practicable

  • Casual Summer Retail Assistant

    Come work with us! We are looking for someone friendly and reliable to join our team at the Whistle & Pop flagship store in Kurow. We’re looking for an extra pair of hands in-store over the summer months, with weekend shifts and additional weekday hours available for those wanting more flexibility.

    We’re a small business with a growing e-commerce side, a lovely team and a rural community we’re proud to be part of.
